One of the aims for this year’s International Women’s Day was to increase the visibility of female creatives. For Enter Gallery in Brighton, this has long something which has been a commitment. A panel discussion at the Brighton gallery hears female artists, Ruth Mulvie, Rebecca Strickson and Jana Nicole discuss their careers and their role models they have had along the way. The event was hosted with The Girls Network which aims to inspire and empower young girls from the least advantaged communities.

It’s a new era for the gallery in Brighton which has been at the centre of the art scene for the past 2 decades.

Enter Gallery is the new name for the space on Bond Street formerly known as artrepublic. It has received a refresh and a re-brand with a new name for a new decade.

Lawrence Alkin is the CEO of the gallery and he talks to Art Related Noise about why now is the right time to change the name.

Eelus moved to London from Wigan in 2000 and never looked back. A street artist known for his stencils and graphic imagery he found himself at the heart of a growing movement. Embedding himself onto the street art scene his work became noticed and popular. Speaking to Art Related Noise Eelus tells us about those early days, releasing his first print with Banksy and how positivity is such an important element in the work he does today.

Known for his elaborate and detailed collages, Dan Hillier is an artist inspired by iconography and by the traditions of ancient cultures. Passionate about nature and the natural world, his experiences travelling, particularly in the east have also had a huge impact on him. Art and Resistance have always gone together. From Picasso’s Guernica to the 1968 student protests in France the art produced has been powerful and symbolic of a time or of a movement. Talking to an audience at artrepublic gallery, lecturer Katy Beinart from the school of Art and Design at Brighton University tells us about some of those seminal moments. What’s more she brings us closer to the present day by looking at how art is now helping to influence the Extinction Rebellion movement.

One of the worlds leading typographic artists, Ben Eine is known for his typefaces and original fonts. Starting out as a graffiti artist he's moved on from painting trains to having one of his works hanging up in the White House. Meeting at his studio in Bermondsey, he talks to Art Related Noise about his work, how society impacts what he creates and how painting letters onto shop shutters in East London was the catalyst he needed to change the way he looked at his art.
